The Rascal Does Not Dream franchise takes place in Fujisawa and Enoshima, Kanagawa, the same stretch of Shonan coast in all three entries. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai draws the original commute between Fujisawa Station and the Enoshima waterfront. A Dreaming Girl carries the story down the coast to Shichirigahama and Hayama. Santa Claus keeps Fujisawa as its anchor and pushes out to Yokohama, the Miura Peninsula, Hakone and Hokkaido. Between the three we have verified 223 real locations, and Enoshima is already the most linked area on this site.
Where does the Rascal Does Not Dream franchise take place?
Fujisawa sits on the Shonan coast in Kanagawa, and Enoshima is the tied island connected to the mainland by a bridge, home to an aquarium, a garden and a sea cave according to the city's own tourism site. Our own catalog confirms two of the island's landmarks in Bunny Girl Senpai: Enoshima Shrine's Hetsumiya and the Enoshima Aquarium. The Enoshima Sea Candle, the island's lighthouse and observation tower, and the Enoshima Benten Bridge both appear too. Katase-Enoshima Station, the Enoden terminus a few minutes' walk from the bridge, is the arrival point in all three entries we have mapped. In Japan the series is known as Seishun Buta Yarou, or AoButa for short, after the light novels by Hajime Kamoshida.
The Enoden line, Shichirigahama and the Kamakura-Koko-Mae crossing
South of Fujisawa Station, the Enoshima Electric Railway, Enoden to locals, runs the single track line the franchise treats almost like a character. Enoden operates both the trains and a local bus network along this stretch, by its own account. Shichirigahama Station and the beach below it carry scenes in all three entries, and Kamakurakoko-Mae Station, one stop closer to Kamakura, sits beside the level crossing on the line; the station and its crossing are both named in our Bunny Girl Senpai catalog. Yukiai Bridge, on the coast road between the two stations, repeats in both Bunny Girl Senpai and A Dreaming Girl.
Fujisawa Station and the city center
Fujisawa Station itself, both the JR and Odakyu side and the Enoden side next door, is a confirmed location in every entry we have mapped, and it is the natural start of a walk. Fujisawa Gate Park and the north exit's grass square give the series its quieter open-air scenes, and Kugenuma-Kaigan Station and Honkugenuma Station, Enoden stations between Fujisawa and the coast, mark the edge of the everyday commute Bunny Girl Senpai draws. None of it needs a car; everything here is a short walk from an Enoden platform.
Is Minegahara High School in Rascal Does Not Dream a real place?
Minegahara High School is named in the Japanese Wikipedia article's character section for the series, but our catalog has no matched real campus under that name, so there is nothing to visit there. What is real is the neighborhood the characters move through outside class: the station platforms, the bridges and the beach itself. Visit those as anyone else would.
Santa Claus and its new places
Santa Claus, the 2025 entry, keeps Fujisawa as the franchise's anchor and adds far more ground than any earlier title. Kanagawa still carries most of it: Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu appears at its second torii gate, and the Miura Peninsula gets ten confirmed spots around Misakiguchi Station. Yokohama is the real expansion: 62 verified locations, Sakuragicho Station and the Kanazawa-Hakkei waterfront among them, the single largest city cluster anywhere in the franchise. The story also reaches past Kanagawa for the first time: Tokyo appears through Haneda Airport, the Nippon Budokan and Zepp DiverCity in Odaiba, and Hokkaido appears through New Chitose Airport. None of it replaces Fujisawa and Enoshima; it builds a longer trip around them, which is why Santa Claus now carries more verified spots than the other two entries combined.
The Dear Friend film, fall 2026
A film titled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend was announced in September 2025 and is set to premiere on 16 October 2026, according to its English Wikipedia entry. It adapts the final two light novel volumes with the same staff and cast returning. Our catalog has no confirmed locations for it yet; a title only enters our map once its scenes have been reviewed and promoted, the same process Santa Claus went through. We will fold Dear Friend's locations into this guide once that happens.
Getting to Fujisawa and Enoshima
Fujisawa Station is the hub. The JR Tokaido Line reaches it directly from Tokyo and Yokohama, and the Odakyu Enoshima Line ends there too, both fair options before switching to Enoden. From the Enoden side of the same station, the single line runs past Shichirigahama and Kamakurakoko-Mae toward Kamakura in one direction, and toward Katase-Enoshima, at the foot of the bridge onto the island, in the other. Enoden also runs local buses along the same stretch, so an off-line spot is usually a short bus ride away.
Which studio animates the Rascal Does Not Dream series?
CloverWorks animates all three entries, continuing from Bunny Girl Senpai's original 13-episode run, which aired from 4 October to 27 December 2018, through A Dreaming Girl's cinema release on 15 June 2019, to Santa Claus, which aired from 5 July to 27 September 2025. Hajime Kamoshida writes the source light novels, illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi, published by ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint since April 2014. That is the same team returning for Dear Friend.
