Location Guide · 4 min read

Published October 15, 2026

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk takes place in Chichibu, Saitama, the mountain basin at the far end of the Seibu line. Botan moves into a university dorm there and discovers shochu, wine and the seniors who drink them. The anime (上伊那ぼたん、酔へる姿は百合の花) treats the whole valley as its back garden. We have verified 79 real locations from the series, with Chichibu as the anchor and day trips fanning out from there.

Where does Botan Kamiina take place?

Chichibu, and the show is precise about it. Seibu-Chichibu Station and the Matsuri no Yu hot-spring complex next to it open episode 3. The station is where Seibu Railway's limited express from Ikebukuro ends its run. Chichibu Shrine, the old town's guardian shrine, is a short walk away and carries episode 2. Hitsujiyama Park starts the series in episode 1, on the hillside known for its spring carpet of shibazakura. Mount Buko, the quarried mountain in every Chichibu skyline shot, gets a whole outing in episode 7, with the Fudo Falls trail and the source of the Naru River on the Yokoze side. Episode 6 rides the Chichibu Railway to Urayamaguchi Station and the Hashidate limestone cave. Episode 11 crosses the Old Chichibu Bridge, the bridge Anohana made into Chichibu's most photographed anime spot fifteen years ago. About a third of this itinerary overlaps with the Anohana walk.

Mitsumine Shrine, Nagatoro and the day trips

Episode 4 is the big excursion. Mitsumine Shrine sits deep in the Chichibu range, and the episode takes in its triple torii, the shrine shop and the Tree of Love on the approach. The shrine bus leaves from Seibu-Chichibu, and its timetable sets the shape of a day there. Episode 2 and the second ending sequence go to Nagatoro, where the Iwadatami rock terraces line the Arakawa and the Chichibu Railway crosses the river on its iron bridge. The bean shop and the soba restaurant in our catalog are both on the walk from Nagatoro Station. The same episode 4 also drops into Kawagoe, Saitama's "Little Edo". The Toki no Kane bell tower and Kanetsuki-dori are both in frame, and Kawagoe sits between Chichibu and central Tokyo.

Why the ending credits go somewhere new every episode

Our catalog records the ending sequences in a different town almost every week. Nagatoro and Minano in ending 2. Gujo Hachiman in Gifu in ending 3. Kamaiso beach and the Juroku Rakan rock carvings at Yuza on the Yamagata coast in ending 4. Hottarakashi Onsen and Lake Hirose in Yamanashi in ending 9. Rikkyo University and Nishi-Ikebukuro Park in ending 10. Ending 8 even leaves Japan for the sunrise beach on Guishan Island off Taiwan. The main episodes roam too. Hikawa Gorge at Okutama in episode 8, the Beer Mount on Mount Takao and the stone steps of Ikaho Onsen in episode 9, the Pola Museum of Art in Hakone in episode 10, Shinjuku's Golden Gai in episode 6. Each of those is a trip of its own. The Chichibu core fits into a single day on foot, and it is the best day the series has.

Is Botan's university a real school?

We have not matched the dorm or the campus to a real building, and the anime does not turn them into landmarks. What it draws precisely is everything around them. Most of the drinking spots in our catalog are working izakaya and bars, run as ordinary businesses with regulars at the counter.

Which studio animates Botan Kamiina?

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk is animated by Soigne, and it premiered on 11 April 2026 with a twelve-episode run. The manga, by Hey, has run on Akita Shoten's Champion Cross web service since March 2019. The Japanese title plays on an old saying that compares a beauty to a peony when seated and a lily when walking. Botan means peony. The joke is that she blossoms fully only when drunk.
